Baby Boomers - What Does the Future Hold?
In this century baby boomers have a lot of benefits. A baby boomer is a person who was born between 1946 and 1964. In the U.S we have Social Security; it’s a tax on working Americans that pays for the expenses of the elderly or disabled who cannot pay for these expenses themselves. The federal agency (AOA) provides the Supplemental Security Income program, Social Security, Medicare, Veteran's Affairs, Americans with Disabilities Act, and Food and Drug Administration.

These are some of the government programs that were made to help the elderly. However, as a nation we are struggling with baby boomers because Social Security may eventually cause us to go bankrupt. Our Social Security may not be able to pay their full benefits. What do you think our future holds with baby boomers?

Increased Drug Use
After the 1960s, people started using Amphetamines (2 kinds: little round white pills the size of bbs called goof balls), Benzedrine (which people called Bennies and could be taken as a pill or inhaled), and Methamphetamine (flat white pills with an X on one side the size of baby aspirin called cross tops). People started using these drugs because of the effects like hallucinations and euphoria.Methamphetamine laboratories can but the safety of citizens at risk and negatively affect the environment. Also in many different ways it costs their local governments a lot.
Families Past vs. Present
Back in the 1960s, families were more strict and oppressive. Fathers were the breadwinners of the family ($), and mothers were responsible for the household and the children. Now, however, families are much more calm and modern.
I think that some of the positive changes from then to now is that women have the opportunity to be independent and provide for their families, and the government provides child support and welfare. Another one is that gay marriage is legal in certain states now, so citizens of the U.S have the right to love anyone.
One of the neutral changes is that adoption is allowed in more countries now, and a negative change is that even though women can work now, that make an average of 9% less than men.
